Within its impressive walls rests a citadel like no other, extremely rich in significant religious and historical structures. St. Catherine Monastery is run by the Greek Orthodox Church & on the Sinai Peninsula lies at the mouth of a remote ravine at the foot of Mt. Sinai. Originally the monastery was guilt by order of Emperor Justinians 1 sometimes between 527. 565 A.D. The monastery enclosed the Chapel of the Burning Bush which was ordered to be built by Helena, the mother of Constantine 1, at the site where Moses saw the burning bush.
